Slightly more than a third of registered voters in Buncombe County have already cast a ballot during early voting, which ends later this week.

At the close of early voting Monday night, 67,654 voters had hit the polls out of Buncombe County's 197,020 registered voters.  That comes out to 34.3% turnout.  The two busiest early voting sites have been the West Asheville Branch Library and Weaverville Town Hall.  Early voting concludes this Saturday.

Voters who do wait until Election Day to hit the polls can ride the bus for free in Asheville to get there.  Fares will be waived all day Tuesday November 8th on Asheville ART buses.   The city council approved the move last week.  Asheville mayor Esther Manheimer says, "Fare free transit days are an inexpensive way to demonstrate support for people who do not have access to affordable transportation and assure access to polls for all registered voters."
