Patrick Fitzsimmons first took office as mayor of Weaverville in August of 2021. Three months later, he was elected to a full-term representing the town of just over 4,000 people in Buncombe County.
Fitzsimmons previously served as Executive Director of Mountain Bizworks and the regional CEO of Red Cross of Western North Carolina. He joined BPR's Matt Bush to discuss what he brings from his professional career to being mayor of Weaverville, and how the town's close proximity to the city of Asheville affects what its citizens want from their local government.
