Residents in East Asheville and Swannanoa area are being urged to boil their water this morning.
At around 1:30AM Wed, the City of Asheville issued a boil water advisory due to a waterline repair at the East Asheville Pump Station.
The city says the lower water pressure increases the risk of contamination, so residents should vigorously boil tap water for one minute before consuming it. For updates on the water situation, the signup for the city’s text alert system can be found here.
Once pressure returns, the city adds, it's possibible that some discolored water or air could be present in the lines. Customers are advised to run cold water for 5-10 minutes or until water is clear.
