Dogwood Health Trust Announces New Grant For Immediate Needs

Dec 2, 2019

Dogwood Health Trust has announced a new grant called Immediate Opportunities and Needs (ION). These grants will be one-time funding options for needs ranging from technology to consultants.

“The work of nonprofit organizations and government agencies is unpredictable – especially when dealing with factors that contribute to the overall health and wellness of people,” said Brian Myers, chief strategy officer for Dogwood Health Trust in a press release.

“Sometimes, an unexpected challenge arises that an organization might need an extra investment to overcome. Similarly, unexpected opportunities present themselves and organizations may need a little help to take full advantage of them. This is what the Immediate Opportunities and Needs grants are for.”

It will be open through January 15th, 2020. Funding will range from $500 to $25,000. Funds will be distributed in early March. This is one of two newly announced grants to provide funds to the community while the organization figures out its official grant parameters.

Dogwood Health Trust was formed after Mission Health sold to for-profit HCA Healthcare. Dogwood is tasked with distributing the profits from the $1.5 billion dollar sale. Dogwood’s new CEO Antony Chiang started in November and is currently touring the region for public and private listening sessions.

The first was called the Leverage Fund. The fund helps match local nonprofits, government agencies and other organizations with a professional grant writer - and pay their salary.
