Melanie Murphey

Melanie joined Blue Ridge Public Radio as Administrative Assistant in February of 2022. Public Radio runs in the family— Melanie’s grandfather was an announcer and political commentator on the Voice of America for Radio Free Europe in West Germany from 1946-1956. Public Radio has been a staple in her upbringing and helped spark a passion for making accurate, vital information accessible to all.

Melanie has a degree in Sustainable Development with a concentration in Environmental Law along with a focus in Social Justice that she received from Appalachian State University in 2019. She spent 5 years working in management for local health food stores and decided to change her career path during the pandemic to find a job that better aligned with her degree and passions.
