WNC Politics Roundup: Don't overreact to the maps you see now

NC-11 as it is currently drawn. It will likely look different for next year's election, if only because North Carolina is getting an extra House of Representatives seat due to population growth, necessitating changes to other districts

North Carolina lawmakers hope to have redistricting completed by the end of this month.  There are plenty of proposed maps floating about right now, but Western Carolina University Dr. Chris Cooper urges people not to overreact to any of them - because the only map that matters is the final one.Dr. Cooper spoke with BPR's Matt Bush about where redistricting is right now in North Carolina.  You can hear the full interview above, which also includes a discussion about next month's municipal elections in North Carolina.  Early voting for those elections started Thursday and runs through October 30th.  Absentee ballot requests must be made by October 26th.  Election Day itself is November 2nd.
