BPR Adds Code Switch and Life Kit, Our Body Politic And Inside Appalachia To Weekends

BPR is pleased to announce the addition of three new programs and a refreshed weekend schedule beginning Saturday October 2, 2021.

Code Switch and Life Kit

After numerous requests from listeners, NPR turned the popular podcast Code Switch into a radio show. Hosted by Gene Demby, listeners hear stories about race and identity that expand their minds, and learn practical ways to make their lives better. It's lifelong learning that ranges from the big picture to tiny details and everything in between.

Code Switch is paired with Life Kit, and during the second 30 minutes of the hour NPR hosts, producers and reporters share tips, resources, and guidance on a range of topics. From workplace microaggressions to saving money to parenting and more, hear from experts to get the best advice out there. The topics will often revolve around race and identity, but we’re always here to help listeners get through life together.

BPR listeners can catch Code Switch and Life Kit 10:00-11:00 am on Sundays beginning October 3, 2021.

Created and hosted by award-winning journalist Farai Chideya, Our Body Politic is unapologetically centered on reporting not just how women of color experience the major political events of today, but how they're impacting those very issues. Weekly episodes feature in-depth conversations about the economy, health, politics, education, the environment and the most prescient issues—because all issues are women's issues. Our Body Politic is presented by KCRW, KPCC, and KQED and can be heard on BPR News Sunday at 7:00 PM beginning October 3, 2021.

Inside Appalachia

Inside Appalachia is a weekly show celebrating Appalachian cultural heritage, and sharing real stories about what it’s like to live in the region and the Appalachians who are finding unique solutions. A production of West Virginia Public Broadcasting and hosted by Caitlin Tan and Mason Adams, the program is an audio tour of our rich history, food, music and culture and includes contributions from public media stations in Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Virginia and West Virginia. Inside Appalachia airs Sundays at 2:00 PM beginning October 3, 2021.

In order to provide listeners with more up-to-date news and analysis of the day’s events, BPR is also extending BBC Newshour coverage into the weekends, which you can hear at 4:00 PM on Saturdays and Sundays ahead of Weekend All Things Considered.

The changes coincide with the sunsetting of two weekend shows, Ask Me Another and Says You on Sunday September 26. Both programs announced they are ending production of new shows, but lovers of quiz shows and comedy can still enjoy archived episodes on demand and Saturday and Sunday broadcasts of Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me at 11:00 am.
