(5/27 2 p.m.) North Carolina has reported 1,001,154 confirmed cases of COVID-19, an increase of 738 cases from the day before.  694 are currently hospitalized statewide, a decrease of 1 from the day before.  13,078 have died of COVID-19 statewide, an increase of 23 from the day before.  In the 13 North Carolina counties in Blue Ridge Public Radio's listening area, there are 51,806 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 889 deaths. That's an increase of 24 cases and 1 death from the day before.

(5/26 2 p.m.) North Carolina has reported 999,567 confirmed cases of COVID-19, an increase of 866 cases from the day before.  695 are currently hospitalized statewide, a decrease of 4 from the day before.  13,031 have died of COVID-19 statewide, an increase of 27 from the day before.  In the 13 North Carolina counties in Blue Ridge Public Radio's listening area, there are 51,755 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 887 deaths. That's an increase of 33 cases and 3 deaths from the day before.

(5/25 2:30 p.m.)  A-B Tech says it will lift its mask requirement on June 1st, as the school plans to resume normal operations when its fall semester begins in August.  For the summer semester, students and staff who are vaccinated can remove their masks, while those who are not are encouraged to keep wearing them.  Social distancing requirements will remain in effect during the summer semester.  “We continue to follow guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the state of North Carolina, and Buncombe and Madison counties, which have all recommended lifting mask mandates for vaccinated individuals,” A-B Tech president John Gossett said in a statement. “I’m also pleased to announce that, thanks to vaccinations and the continued decline of COVID-19 impacts, we are planning to return to normal operations when our fall classes begin in August.” 

(5/25 2 p.m.) North Carolina has reported 998,701 confirmed cases of COVID-19, an increase of 525 cases from the day before.  699 are currently hospitalized statewide, an increase of 19 from the day before.  13,004 have died of COVID-19 statewide, an increase of 17 from the day before.  In the 13 North Carolina counties in Blue Ridge Public Radio's listening area, there are 51,722 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 884 deaths. That's an increase of 20 cases and 0 deaths from the day before.

(5/24 2 p.m.) North Carolina has reported 998,176 confirmed cases of COVID-19, an increase of 2,422 cases from Friday.  680 are currently hospitalized statewide, a decrease of 83 from Friday.  12,987 have died of COVID-19 statewide, an increase of 29 from Friday.  In the 13 North Carolina counties in Blue Ridge Public Radio's listening area, there are 51,702 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 884 deaths. That's an increase of 99 cases and 5 deaths from Friday.
