Lilly Knoepp
Cowee Mountain has been under construction since February 2019.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation has opened up a 30-day public comment for all residents to have a say in the next 10 years of projects.

All 14 divisions of the state have been invited to comment on the North Carolina Department of Transportation’s next 10-Year transportation plan for 2023-2032.

There is an open house in Sylva on February 4 through February 6 during business hours for folks to drop by with questions and ideas. The NCDOT Division 14 headquarters is located at 253 Webster Road in Sylva. Division 14 covers Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Macon, Polk, Swain and Transylvania counties.

Residents who can’t attend the open house can still be part of the process by contacting Steve Williams of the Division 14 office at sjwilliams@ncdot.gov; NCDOT Division 14, 253 Webster Road, Sylva, NC 28779; or 828.586.2141 during the 30-day comment period.

The statewide 30-day public comment period to submit questions and project ideas runs between January 27 and February 28.
