Asheville BOE Outlines Process To Pick Next Schools Superintendent

Asheville High School Facebook page

The Asheville city board of education says it will hold six public forums in August as it searches for a new superintendent.  Current superintendent Denise Patterson announced her resignation last week, citing health concerns.  She’d held the position for only two years.

The announcement of the six public forums was part of a broader unveiling of the timeline to find Patterson's successor.  An online survey will be ready for residents to offer input on June 24th.  Following the six public forums, the board hopes to have a decision made in November, with the goal of having the new hire start in January of 2020.

The six forums take place -

Asheville Middle School - August 1st

Ira B. Jones Elementary School - August 7th

Montford North Star Academy - August 12th

Arthur Edington Center - August 22nd

Hall Fletcher Elementary School - August 26th

North Asheville Library - August 29th
