Candidate Interview: Norm Bossert (D) - NC Senate

BPR will be interviewing candidates for state races in the 2018 midterms.  Our series of conversations starts with Norm Bossert.  Bossert is a Democrat running in the heavily Republican Senate District 48, which encompasses Henderson, Transylvania and southern Buncombe counties.  It's currently represented by Republican Sen. Chuck Edwards.  Bossert spoke with BPR's Jeremy Loeb.

This is the second time Bossert is challenging Edwards.  The 2016 election went to Edwards approximately 62 percent to 38 percent.  That election was a good one for Republicans, and there are signs showing early momentum for Democrats this time around, which Bossert hopse to capitalize on.  He's a former school principal at Black Mountain Elementary.  Now retired, Bossert fills in as a substitute teacher.

This interview was conducted on Sept. 5th, 2018.  BPR has reached out to Sen. Edwards for an interview and has not received a response.
