Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October is domestic violence awareness month.

Helpmate is a domestic violence agency in Asheville working to eliminate abuse and fear by providing safety, shelter, and support for victims and survivors.

BPR’s Jose Sandoval talked with Helpmate executive director April Burgess Johnson about increasing awareness around domestic violence.

Helpmate will hold a Domestic Violence Awareness Vigil will be held at 5pm on October 26th at the Dr. Wesley Grant Sr. Southside Community Center at 258 Livingston St in Asheville.
