America's Test Kitchen July 4th Beer Special: Airing Friday at Noon

Frank Stasio and the folks at The State of Things are taking July 3rd off in celebration of the July 4th holiday. So in keeping with our July 4th celebration WCQS will air an Independence Day celebratory special from America's Test Kitchen - July 4th Beer Special: The Amazing History, Lore and Science of America's Favorite Drink.

This year, it's all about American beer. We speak with historian, author, and self-proclaimed ranter Maureen Ogle about her book Ambitious Brew: The Story of American Beer. We'll be tasting barbecue sauce, and we'll taste test beer with expert Lauren Clark. Then we'll head into the test kitchen to learn how to make the best Memphis-style ribs at home.

That's Friday, July 3rd at noon right here on WCQS. The State of Things will return Monday at noon.

Michelle Keenan was the Associate Director of Development at Blue Ridge Public Radio. She began volunteering for the station in 1996 and has been a full-time staff member since 1998.
