Durham rapper Professor Tune is touring around the state to promote his new album.

Durham rapper Professor Toon has spent years performing music in the city. He has watched the hip-hop scene grow in the Triangle as he has continued to challenge himself as an artist.

Host Frank Stasio talks with Professor Toon who also performs live in our studio.

Toon recently stepped outside the Triangle to perform music across the country. He says the experience shaped his understanding of community and culture. Host Frank Stasio talks with Professor Toon about his travels and his upcoming EP “Release.”

Toon performs Saturday, Dec. 2 at Motorco Music Hall in Durham at 8:30 p.m.

Longtime NPR correspondent Frank Stasio was named permanent host of The State of Things in June 2006. A native of Buffalo, Frank has been in radio since the age of 19. He began his public radio career at WOI in Ames, Iowa, where he was a magazine show anchor and the station's News Director.
